In 1991 the group agreed that they would have a double booth at the Arabian National Show in Louisville, KY. Ever since, we have sponsored a booth at the Arabian Nationals in Kentucky, with the possibility of sponsoring at the Nationals in New Mexico in alternating years. Our duties at the Nationals are to man our booth and pass out the Azraff-Ferzon Directory and literature that highlight each farm showcasing the horses. Our group also informs the public on who and where to contact for more information of those in the group.

Another of our functions at each Nationals, is to honor an exemplary individual who has contributed to our breeding program. The first Honorary Member in 1991 was James “Jimmy” Dean, a man whose name is synonymous with Arabian circles.

Jimmy Dean was the most instrumental person who made *Raffles become the stallion that he was to be. Under his care, *Raffles grew from a shy, supposedly sterile stallion, to a progenator of the *Raffles line. It was Jimmy who got the barren mare *Azja IV in foal to produce Azraff. In the early 1950’s, Jimmy was very forceful in declaring that Azraff was the best, as well as the best-producing, son of *Raffles.

Another highlight of Jimmy’s life was breeding Azleta, an Azraff daughter, to Ferzon, to produce Gai Parada, a triple National Champion.
